Refugee Workshop

Claire, who works for the Red Cross, came to talk to us about refugees and how their lives have been affected by war. It was a fascinating but very sad insight into how children younger than ourselves are trying hard to survive when all they want to do is to return to their home country. It was difficult to put ourselves in their shoes and we thought about how we could make them feel more welcome. We'd like to thank Claire for delivering the workshop in a sensitive way and at our level.

Here are some of our thoughts:

"It was sad, especially thinking about the children and what they are going through"  Oscar O

"This workshop was necessary and very important, I'm glad we had it"   Dolly

"It taught us what refugees go through-it's so hard"   Alfie

"I found it upsetting-children having to run away because of war"   Kian

We learnt about the difficult process refugees have to go through and how young children feel about it"   William

All of the children came away with a deeper understanding of what it means to be a refugee and how young lives are unnecessarily affected by war. A very important lesson for us all.
